Damascene knives, often called Damascus knives, are masterpieces of blacksmithing and cutlery craftsmanship. The distinctive feature of these knives is the unique decorative pattern on the blade, which is achieved by combining two or more steels with different properties. This process is carried out by forging at welding temperature and results in the so-called welded Damascus. Knives forged in this way are of exceptional quality. Thanks to this manufacturing process, the knives get the best out of the steels used. Most often, hard steel with a high carbon content is combined with tough steel, which gives the knife excellent hardness, wear resistance, and the ability to resist breaking.
