Kitchen is a place, where you certainly sit every day with your family at the set table. Whether you do so during days off or after work or school, you surely meet up here to dine together. To really enjoy a great meal there is no doubt it is also necessary to have proper lighting. The light above a dining table should be chosen carefully. It should fulfill lighting as well as decorative function.
To make a space around a dining table cozier it is not a good idea to pick sharp bulbs. In such a case, the best and the most suitable variant are bulbs with warm white light. These bulbs light up space just right. At the same time, they also make the space cozier and overall make the entire impression more pleasant. There is really a great selection of kitchen lights. However, don´t let yourself to be tempted by all styles at once. You certainly don´t want your dining area and other lights in the kitchen to be, so called, Motley crew. Above a dining table various chandeliers fit the best. Different lights can also evoke various tastes in you and increase the overall enjoyment of meal and drinks.
A chandelier or a pendant crystal light will absolutely amazingly enhance and decorate the whole space. Still, what matters the most is that you feel good with this light when dining. Therefore, the light shouldn´t be too close to a dining table, so as it doesn´t light up your plate too much. You might have a headache from such intense lighting and you wouldn´t enjoy your meal. With such a light glass of good wine or afternoon coffee is also a very pleasant idea.
The light based on the shape of the table
What else is important is to try to choose lighting according to the shape of a dining table. For instance, if you have a rounded or oval table in your dining room, whether small or large, the light with a rounded shade will perfectly fit in. Everything will look very neat and the table will nicely complement the light.
On the other side, if you have a square table, a pendant light with several suspension cables will stand out the best above it. If you chose too small light with only one shade or only attached ceiling light, the light could seem too tiny above long square table.
As far as number of lights or shades above a dining table is concerned, what always plays a big role is how big is your table. For bigger tables only one light with one shade could be too little. Let´s say if there were more of you at the table eating a fish with only one light, there would be a risk that a bone sticks in somebody´s throat. Therefore, at bigger tables it is better to use lights with multiple light sources. In terms of a number of shades, it is a fact that the best is to choose a light with odd number of shades. However, naturally it is not a fixed rule.
On the contrary, if there is only two of you at home and you only have a small dining table, a pendant light with one bulb will perfectly work for you. It will illuminate your table just right and you will be able to enjoy your meal nicely and calmly. The best spot for placing your light is in the middle of the table so as everything looks neat and aesthetic.
